About Me

My Studies

When I began college, I had no intention of pursuing Computer Science—I had never even seen code before. I took an introductory programming class as a technical requirement, and liked it so much I decided to double major. So far, that has been an amazing decision, as programming provides the perfect outlet for my creativity. I absolutely love the open-endedness of Computer Science, its applications will take you as far as your imagination can go.

In contrast, my Global Studies degree provides the perfect complement, as my dual degree has given me a holistic approach to technical problems, blending computational thinking and humanitarian concerns. Global Studies helps me analyze complex world issues, Computer Science empowers me to find their solutions. I hope to tackle global issues with nuance and empathy, ensuring that technology serves the world both positively and equitably.

Community Engagement

Beyond the classroom, I am committed to academic and STEM field accessibility. I currently serve as External Outreach Coordinator for Code the Gap, a nonprofit partnering with local schools to provide free programming courses.

Some of my recent volunteering includes teaching Python at local public schools through Code the Gap, math tutoring at El Centro Guadelupano, and chairing the University Honors Mentor Program.
